Josh Stevens – a singer-songwriter who has worked with the Calvin Harris, Jennifer Lopez and Pitbull – will encourage Mission Viejo youth to stay drug-free during the annual Walk Against Drugs on Saturday, October 21.
The event kicks off with an 8 a.m. rally at Mission Viejo High School, Josh’s alma mater. This inspiring musical artist grew up in Mission Viejo where his musical roots began and later evolved. Today, his works are Grammy Award winning, Billboard Award nominated and recognized internationally. Josh is also the co-founder of Stadium Music Enterprise, an artist and media development company that is based on the motto of “Music With A Purpose.” Despite his stardom, Josh stays grounded through volunteer work with Runway 4 Peace and Champions Against Bullying. He has attained success through perseverance, hard work, community involvement and the decision to live a drug-free lifestyle. In fact, he is the inspiration for this year’s theme “Play the right key be drug-free.”
“Peer pressure doesn’t exist, it’s only the pressure on yourself; everything else is a distraction,” he said. “It’s your choice to do what you want with your life.”
After the rally, the crowd –sporting red T-shirts – will walk down Chrisanta Drive, La Paz Road and Oso Creek Trail and end at the Village Green where the community fair will take place from 9 a.m. to noon. Fans will have the chance to chat with Josh and enjoy inflatables, games, food, entertainment and the annual South County Disaster Preparedness Expo.
The 29th annual Walk Against Drugs takes place in conjunction with national Red Ribbon Week, which advocates for a healthful lifestyle while avoiding drugs, alcohol and tobacco.
