NEWPORT BEACH A one-acre brush fire early Saturday on a Newport Beach coastal hillside was quickly extinguished by firefighters, according to authorities.
The Newport Beach Fire Department received aid from several agencies in battling the 2 a.m. fire located off of Vista Ridge, Acting Battalion Chief Nic Lucas said.
A helicopter from the Orange County Fire Authority made several water drops.
The fire, located in rough terrain, was driven by winds that exceeded 34 mph, said Lucas.
No structures were damaged
Thirty-five firefighters from the Newport Beach, Laguna Beach, Fullerton, Orange and Brea fire departments and the OCFA responded.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, Lucas said.
