The Ortega Highway was closed in both directions Wednesday morning, May 3, after three vehicles crashed just east of the border between Riverside and Orange counties.
The crash was reported to the California Highway Patrol about 4:30 a.m., and witness reports indicated that one vehicle had flipped and one woman was trapped, according to CHP incident logs.
CHP officers arrived and issued a SigAlert for both lanes of the highway about 5 a.m., according to the logs.
A third and final tow truck was expected to arrive around 7 a.m., but it wasn’t immediately clear when the road would re-open.
Traffic was stopped dead between Grand Avenue in the Lake Elsinore and the Decker Canyon area of the highway.
