Anaheim Fire and Rescue recently got City Council support for its vision of what the department needs to do through 2022.
The department started its strategic planning process in 2011, looking out five years at a time. The plans are used like a “playbook” officials said, guiding focus and budget requests.
In the most recent update, the department said it plans to move Station 5 from Kraemer Boulevard to La Palma Avenue and Sunkist Street. That is in progress.
A new station is planned at South Anaheim Way and Orangewood Avenue. It would serve the growing Platinum Triangle. A new Emergency Operations Center is also proposed for that location.
The department also wants to expand on a pilot project that has reduced emergency room visits by having a nurse practitioner on hand who can treat those who don’t need to go to the hospital or can recommend when urgent care is appropriate.
