Yorba Linda is kicking off its golden anniversary celebration next week.
The “Land of Gracious Living” was incorporated Nov. 2, 1967 and since then has enjoyed growth and prosperity.
“It’s a major milestone in the city so we want to commemorate and celebrate this special occasion,” said Management Analyst Allison Estes. “It’s an exciting time for us.”
The city has planned a series of events to honor its 50 years, beginning with Tuesday’s City Council meeting and a recognition of former council and commission members, a photo display and a video slide show highlighting Yorba Linda “then and now.”
Other events through Nov. 2 include a 5K Fun Walk at Gun Club Road Linear Park, a presentation on the city’s history and a birthday story time at the Yorba Linda Library.
The annual Fourth of July Spectacular event, which hosts about 10,000 attendees, will tie into the anniversary celebration and feature a live band and other themed activities.
The anniversary celebration will culminate with the State of the City address by Mayor Peggy Huang, set for Nov. 2.
